The Lizard King not only inherits the Lizard Queen’s cold-blooded, all-consuming fuzz tones but also re-tools existing controls and adds new ones. The resulting pedal gives guitarists expanded options, while bassists can also bask in the '70s-inspired goodness without wrecking their tone. The Lizard King replaces the original’s Sun/Shadow rotary knob with a Sun/Shadow voice toggle that brightens or darkens the effect. The switch to a toggle makes room for brand-new Blend and Tone controls, so you can retain your dry signal for increased articulation (vital for bass guitar) and roll off highs for fire-breathing low-end on driving rhythm guitar or bass. Like the original, the EHX Lizard King rewards those who dynamically use instrument volume knobs. Lower input levels clean up the Lizard King's sound, while max input levels will supercharge gain for mix-dominating character that's perfect for guitar solos and brave bassists.

Sun/Shadow toggle

The Lizard King’s 2-way toggle lets you choose Sun or Shadow as a foundation for fuzz. The Sun voice increases brightness and midrange with more cutting, distortion-like qualities. The Shadow voice has more vintage flair, midrange scoop, and tighter presence, especially when palm muting. Shadow mode doesn't alter your clean signal, but Sun mode gives cleans added bass and treble, which results in increased interaction with the Blend and Octave settings!

Enhanced controls put you in command

The Lizard King radically expands the original's sonic range with two blendable parameters. The Octave knob lets you adjust the octave-up level in the fuzz. Rotate it counter-clockwise for more straightforward fuzz, or clockwise for more thickness and ‘70s vibes. The Lizard King’s Blend control lets players retain anywhere from zero to one hundred percent clean signal. Fixed-gain fuzz design

Instead of the gain-controlling “Sustain” knob found on some fuzzes, the Lizard King’s fuzz is set to a fixed level — the crushed and clipped wall-of-sound fuzz. And while it may be non-adjustable, the Lizard King’s gain feels particularly reactive. It responds sensitively to dynamic playing, and even more so to different volume knob settings. Dime your instrument’s volume control for more chaotic saturation or reign it in for tighter-sounding tones akin to an extra-dirty overdrive.

With updated tone controls and a new Blend knob, the bass’s fundamental tone and low-end is preserved while the top-end of the fuzz tone is shaped to fit or dominate any mix! The EHX Lizard King is a fixed-gain fuzz that is dynamically responsive. Adjustments to your instruments volume affects the amount of fuzz. Lower instrument volumes create a clear, fuzzy overdrive, while full instrument volume sends the gain over the top for ripping riff and searing solo tones. The familiar VOLUME and OCTAVE knobs control overall output and octave blend volume respectively. New to the Lizard King, the BLEND knob sets the mix between your clean and fuzz tones to create the perfect balance of fuzz while retaining your bass’s attack and low-end. The TONE knob is a low pass filter that rolls off the highs, while the SUN/SHADOW switch further enhances the tone of the octave fuzz and clean tones. SUN boosts the octave fuzz with a more driving midrange, and the clean tone accessed by the BLEND knob has more treble and bass frequencies. When the switch is set to SHADOW, the clean tone is unchanged, and fuzz tone is tighter.
