From Radiohead's early days, Ed O'Brien has been conjuring otherworldly tones from his guitar that suit their artistic landscape. And now he does it with his very own signature EOB Ed O'Brien Stratocaster. This guitar boasts the familiar alder and maple Strat platform, while diverging with a creative electronics package. You'll find a Duncan JB Jr in the bridge for hotter output, a Fender Texas Special single-coil in the middle position, and a Sustainer Driver in the neck with a wide variety of controls. The EOB Stratocaster takes Fender tones to a whole new level.
There may not be a more recognizable solidbody electric guitar than the Stratocaster. In Clapton's hands, it's a blues machine, Yngwie turns it into a fire-breather, and Radiohead's Ed O'Brien coaxes his into sonic territories that sound all-together new. What brings such a wide variety of guitarists to the Strat is its extremely comfortable design and its ability to sing with such a versatile voice. Grab this Fender Ed O'Brien signature Stratocaster from Music Experience, and you'll immediately know what we mean.
The EOB Strat is carved from the time-tested tonewood combination of alder and maple. Alder, a generally lighter wood, offers a very balanced sound with nice sustain. It has been a favorite on Fenders for decades. The maple neck also features a maple fingerboard for added clarity and attack, no matter what rig you play through. You'll also find that the neck's 10/56 "V" profile has the uncanny ability to fill your hand in a reassuring way, while never slowing you down.
Where O'Brien's signature Strat parts from most other designs out there is in its electronics. Each of the three pickup positions is filled with a wildly different design, allowing you to access sounds out of reach of most instruments. The neck Sustainer Driver pickup utilizes two mini toggles to choose between on/off and fundamental, harmonic, and blend voices. The middle position features a tried-and-true Texas Special single-coil. And you'll be flipping to the bridge for the higher-output punch of a Seymour Duncan JB Jr. humbucking pickup.
Ed O'Brien's ambient, ethereal and orchestral guitar style is an essential part of the sonic identity of Radiohead. We partnered with this groundbreaking player to create the Ed O’Brien Stratocaster — an instrument as unique as his sound. This inspiring guitar is perfect for creating lush, layered soundscapes and finding your own creative voice.
The Fernandes Sustainer driver in the neck position expands the guitar's traditional sonic capabilities by creating near-infinite single or multi-string sustain.
The single-coil-sized Duncan JB Jr. humbucking bridge pickup offers giant tone while the Texas Special single-coil middle pickup adds extra spank to the traditional Fender sound.
The 9.5"-radius fingerboard, topped with narrow-tall frets, makes precision soloing and chord playing easy across the entire neck.
This beefy, resonant neck feels instantly comfortable to most players' hands. "Soft V"-shaped near the nut, it rounds to a "C" profile as you ascend the neck, making it great for both chord playing and soloing.
The custom "Flower of Life" logo is an image said to represent the basis of music; the distances between the spheres is identical to the distances between whole and semi-tones.
The vintage-style bridge and tuning machines give this guitar the authentic look, feel and tone of a classic Fender instrument.
